There may be times when you need to adjust your eyewear. When you purchase a new pair of glasses, you find that one of the arms does not fit properly. It can be quite frustrating. It may be that you have worn your glasses day-in, day-out for a long time and, over time, they have slipped down your nose or appear crooked.
You need not worry; there is a simple solution to this problem! There are two ways to perform this task: either by hiring a professional or doing it yourself at home. Detailed instructions are provided below by one of our qualified opticians:
Making adjustments to your nose pads
The following instructions will assist you in changing the way your nose pads fit:
-
Grip your glasses firmly.
-
Place your thumb and forefinger on the nose pad.
-
A slight adjustment can be made to one of them.
-
On the other pad, repeat the process.
-
If they work, try them on.
Ensure that the fit is satisfactory by repeating the process. Adjust the settings only a few times at a time.
An adjustment can be made to the arms of a plastic or metal frame
- The following instructions will allow you to adjust the way the arms of your glasses fit:
- You should place them on and mark the point at which you would like the bend to begin on your glasses.
- Remove them from the ends and heat the side where you intend to bend them for about 20-30 seconds. Alternatively, you can use a hair dryer or mug of hot water, but caution should be exercised to avoid burning yourself.
- In order to straighten the glasses, bend them gently, but firmly.
- It is recommended that the arms be re-heated for another 20 seconds.
- In the area where you made a mark, bend your arm around your thumb in a smooth curve.
- It is recommended that you try the clothes on again and see if they feel better this time, if not, try again until you are satisfied.
